The Sum of Us (Five-week series)
In discussions of complex topics such as race, do we tend to see things through a “zero-sum” lens? -- where someone’s gain requires another’s loss? Why is that lens often used in the media and in politics? What does that do to us spiritually as Christians?
In her book The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together, economist Heather McGhee explores the Zero-Sum Hierarchy and how it is divisive and self-destructing to all people. McGhee also discusses the Solidarity Dividend. The benefits we all gain when people work together.
Join us for a five-week Lenten group read of this informative and inspiring book. We will discuss how new insights relate to our everyday lives and to our baptismal promises.
