There are many communication avenues at Christ Church. If you are interested in submitting information for publication in any of these avenues, please take a minute to read the following information:
Website- We now have the ability to update the website in house. If you would like for an annoucement or photo to appear on the website, please make sure:
- The request should be sponsored by a committee or commission of Christ Church.
- Given that a website permits a virtually unlimited audience, the tone and invitation should be inclusive to anyone who may contact the church and wish to participate in the event, group or committee, unless specific and appropriate guidelines are clearly established. Keep in mind that if an event or membership for a group is posted on the web, it is open to all and non-members will be invited to attend.
- If at all possible, specify which area of the website your announcement should appear.
- Photos will be used when possible; digital pictures are preferred.
Christ Church News & Notices- formerly Parish Notices, published every week and are distributed in the Sunday bulletins. As of 3/3/06, they are also emailed as an attachment on Friday to the parish.
- The submission deadline is Monday at noon for the upcoming Sunday.
- Due to limited space, submissions should be brief and text only. Submissions will be edited for succinctness.
- Email submissions to Christine DeLia at deliac@christchurchcharlotte.org
- It is our practice to limit announcements to activities related Christ Church and afiliated organizations due to space limitations.
The Disciple- monthly newsletter mailed to parishioners and posted on the Christ Church website.
- Please send articles for publication in the Disciple to the appropriate Christ Church staff member.
- If submissions are received after the deadline, they will go in the next Disciple, unless the event date or registration date has passed.
- We try to mail the Disciple in order that it is received right before the start of a month. The date people receive the Disciple will also vary by a day or so, given that the Disciple is mailed via bulk mail.
- Submissions may be edited for clarity and succinctness.
- Each Disciple is limited to two inserts; please see insert sign-up sheet in the Communication Department or call 704-714-6960 to verify if a particular date is open. All inserts are printed with black ink on colored paper.
The design and content of Disciple inserts should be completed and emailed to Gina Wilkie at wilkieg@christchurchcharlotte.org.
- Include the sponsoring commission name on the flyer.
- If childcare is going to be provided (must verify this with Anne Cullen), use the following wording: Childcare is available for children 0-4 years old in the Nursery Suite. Please call Tracey Roberts (704-333-0378) in the church office to reserve a space for your child.
- For events that offer dinner, please use the following wording regarding childcare:Childcare is available for children 0-4 years old in the Nursery Suite. Dinner is not provided for children under 4 years old- please bring a sack dinner for your child. Please call Tracey Roberts (704-333-0378) in the church offices to reserve a space for your child.
E-Blasts - Christ Church currently sends three parish-wide e-blasts: the e-devotion on Wednesdays, This Sunday and Upcoming Activities on Fridays and a Sunday eblast, This Wednesday at Christ Church. In order to preserve the effectiveness of email and keep the number of emails that parishioners receive from Christ church to a minimum, e-blasts are used sparingly.
Digital Screens - We have three wide format LCD screens posted around the church. We currently use these screens to post Sunday and Wednesday classes, menus and announcements.
Program Guide - Our first edition of the Christ Church Fall Program Guide was made available to the parish in September of 2007. This publication is a comprehensive guide to the programs and activities offered here at church including a calendar of events. The next edition is planned for January 2008.
Banners- Banners relating to Christ Church and the community can be displayed on Providence Road six times per year (city code). These banners include Holy Week, Easter Services, Christmas Services, CCK Enrollment, Pentecost, and ECW Holiday Bazaar.
- Banners may also be hung in All Saints’ Hall, space permitting.
- Please contact Van Hill for banner specifications at 704-714-6963.
Communications Crossroads- Bulletin boards are located in the hallway between the Gathering Space and the Yellow Room. They are organized by commissions and highlight current activities and events of the commission.
- All ministry groups have creative discretion for their bulletin board and the upkeep of their board.
- One section of a bulletin board is called “Post-It.” This area is available for items that do not fit under a specific commission, such as job openings, book fairs, and ads for local establishments.
Please contact Gina Wilkie with questions about any of the above communication channels, 704-714-6960.
