A few years ago, fellow parishioner Jim Preston single-handedly began an energetic effort to encourage members of our congregation to consider making bequests and other forms of planned gifts to Christ Church. Jim has done a wonderful job of elevating awareness of planned giving as a vital part of our collective stewardship efforts at Christ Church and our parish owes him a real debt of gratitude for all he has done. With the enthusiastic encouragement of the Vestry, Jim has now passed the torch to a new Planned Giving Committee. In the next few weeks, you will be hearing exciting news about planned giving efforts that our Committee will be setting into motion this spring, including the launch of the Oak Circle, a recognition group to honor those who have remembered Christ Church in a bequest or other form of planned gift. Our objective is simple: to build our Church’s ability to support outreach and other programs outside of its operating budget, increasing our ministry to our community and the larger world. You can download our "Guidelines for Planned Giving" here. The first step in that process is a comprehensive effort to update our information, to account for those who have already provided for a planned gift and to encourage interest from those who have not yet made a planned gift. To that end, it would help us with our efforts if you would be willing to let us know if you have included Christ Church in your estate plan, or if not, if you would be willing to consider a bequest or other form of planned gift to the parish.
