What is The Micah Initiative?
Christ Church's new long-term Mission and Outreach Project that seeks to follow God's call, as set forth in the words of the prophet Micah, "To do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with God." There are three distinct paths of service the Partners In Prevention, Rama Road School Partnerships and Mission Projects.

Planned Mission Trips:
The newly formed Commission has been busy getting organized and incorporating those who have made a commitment to participate: Sue Schenck maintaining an annual calendar; Pete Krug setting up a budget; Andy Cooney assisting with trip presentation development; and Geoff Peters and his microfinance subcommittee researching different organizations and best practices for making loans. Two parishioners are interested in working with Episcopal Relief and Development; we are in conversation about ways to serve with ERD, especially in Haiti.

What can you do?
- Sign up for future Adult Mission Trips - Summer, 2012
Costa Rica: July 16th-24th and July 23th-31st

- Begin to understand microfinance by reading "The Blue Sweater" by Jacqueline Novogratz or
"Banker to the Poor" by Muhammad Yunus

Questions or to serve? Contact Mission Commission Chair: Bill Stokes at stokes.wa@gmail.com

As you might imagine, building an army of energetic and compassionate volunteers is no simple task! We plan to use electronic communication tools, such as the website and email, in order to get the information to you faster and without the unwanted expense of postage.

If you've already filled out and submitted a response card, you should have gotten an email with follow-up information. Emails go out about every ten business days, so please don't be alarmed if we haven't contacted you immediately after you return your sign-up card.

Additionally, we are aware some email programs may have spam filters that trapped our emails. Please make sure that emails from Christ Church are accepted by your email program. Additionally, some of the email addresses we have on file for some volunteers are not accurate. So, when you sign-up, be sure to provide a current and accurate email address for every volunteer.

IF YOU HAVE NOT HEARD FROM US AND IT HAS BEEN MORE THAN 10 BUSINESS DAYS, PLEASE CONTACT CHRIST CHURCH.
