Lenten Wednesday Night Classes - February 10th - March 24th (back to top)
Christian Journey Toward God through the Enneagram 101
Leader: Bill Pierce, drpiercedds@bellsouth.net
Date: Wednesdays for five weeks - February 24th, March 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th
Time: 6:45 - 7:45 PM
Location: M206
The modern Enneagram system is a wisdom teaching that describes in detail how the soul experiences inner confusion and reacts mechanically to the care and anxieties of the world. Each of us is said to be one of the “nine faces of God.” Other systems, such as the Myers-Briggs personality type indicator, examine behavioral patterns to describe a person. Distinct from that, the Enneagram examines the individual motivation; that which drives the personality and gives it energy. By identifying areas of spiritual growth in ourselves and pairing those with the God-given resources, the Enneagram becomes a resource for the individual Christian journey back to God. The discovery of one’s personality type through the Enneagram is a journey of self discovery which:
• Results in self-observation and knowledge in an objective, positive way,
• Heals the body, mind, and heart intelligence so that they can operate at their highest levels,
• Leads to self-understanding which frees one more and more to be the person God calls him/ her to be,
• Improves one’s ability to deal with the cares and anxieties of the world,
• Builds inner strength for living a positive, self-accepting life.
Please contact Jenny Beaumont at beaumontj@christchurchcharlotte.org to register for this class and you will receive directions on how to take an online test in preparation for the first class.

Franciscan priest Father Richard Rohr, an Enneagram expert and teacher believes that there is no more challenging spiritual issue than the “problem of self.” In a series of 6 CD’s titled “True Self/False Self,” we will listen as Rohr helps us to let go of our false selves and move toward our truer selves define by God’s vision for us. A basic understanding of the Enneagram is helpful. The Enneagram is a resource for the individual Christian journey back to God by identifying areas of spiritual growth in ourselves and pairing those with our God-given talents and gifts. Christmas Spiritual Memories Book - March 30th (participation deadline) (back to top)
Introducing the Christ Church Christmas Spiritual Memories Book Dylan Thomas, Truman Capote and many other writers have shared memories of Christmases that shaped their lives. Christ Church is filled with such stories of Christmas experiences that have helped to shape personal spiritual journeys. The Writing Your Faith group wants to create an anthology of faith-filled Christmas stories, submitted by Christ Church members of all ages and experiences. Your contribution could be a short essay, poem, prayer or letter (500 words or less). Group members, with input from the clergy, will select the contributions for this anthology, which will be made available to Christ Church members in time for Christmas 2010. If you are interested in participating, please contact Dorothy Trotter, watermktg@aol.com or 704-358-8453 by March 30, 2010. You will receive specific guidelines at that time.
Building An Ethical Economy - April 28th (registration deadline) (back to top)
In the current economic climate, many in the faith community have struggled to find common ground between the seemingly disparate worlds of theology and economics. The Charlotte Convocation and the Southern Region is inviting the larger Charlotte community to gather to share a meal, watch the speakers’ presentations, and engage in meaningful conversations with regard to place of theology in the economy. The Rev. Lawrence Womack, Associate Rector at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, will help to facilitate our discussions.
Dinner and Discussion will be on Thursday Evenings at Christ Church from 6:30 - 8:30 PM on May 6th, 13th and 20th. The cost is $25 for the 3-week program which includes dinner. You can download your registration form here.
