Happening #58: Youth Event - March 23rd - 25th (back to top) This fall I had the privilege of being on Team (staff) for Happening #57 in the Diocese of North Carolina. Happening is a Christian experience presented by teenagers for teenagers with the help of clergy and lay adult leadership. The purpose of the Happening - A Christian Experience program is to be one of the instruments within the Anglican Tradition to renew the Christian Church in the power of the Holy Spirit, in order that the Church may respond more readily to its call to spread the Kingdom of God throughout the world. Happening - A Christian Experience seeks to achieve this purpose by bringing young persons and adults to a fuller personal knowledge of and relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, and to a deeper level of commitment and apostleship. Happening is a terrific way for high schoolers to come together to have intentional Christian community and conversation. It gives the opportunity through radical hospitality and poignant talks and skits to wrestle with issues facing high schoolers and how to approach those together in faith. Happening takes place at Camp Walter Johnson, a Salvation Army camp in Denton, NC, from March 23rd - 25th. The weekend is structured with talks by the teens on Team followed by small group reflection time. There is great music and worship and a few surprises along the way! I highly recommend Happening and strongly encourage any high schooler to attend. Please contact me about this fantastic weekend. More information about Happening can be found at www.happeningnational.org. And as always information will be up on the Christ Church Youth Page, www.christchurchyouth.org. Many thanks, Drew Courtright.
