Upper Room Worship at Urban Ministry Center - March 8th - 12th (back to top)

Did you know that each quarter Christ Church takes one week at the Urban Ministry Center and offers prayers, Bible Study and/or fellowship for the homeless Neighbors? If you can read Morning Prayer, you are ready to serve. If you would like to read your favorite piece of scripture and have a discussion with the Neighbors, you are ready to serve. If you like to pray with others and support others through tough times, you are ready to serve. You can take a friend or go alone to share worship time with our Neighbors. Christ Church next serves March 8th - 12th; 10:45 AM - 11:15 AM each day. If you are interested in working with the homeless in our city or would like more information about this incredible opportunity to minister, please contact Lisa Mateboer at lsmtbr2@gmail.com.

Serve the Homeless (back to top)

Room In The Inn - Now until March
Still Room in our Inn at Christ Church…. we need people to serve every Sunday night in March as we have openings to set up cots, make beds, prepare/serve dinner, make sack lunches, provide hospitality, drive the church bus and serve as overnight hosts for our homeless Neighbors in Charlotte. Christ Church hosts 12 homeless folk (men, women, and/or children) sponsored through the Urban Ministry Center. Many of these roles are perfect for families to do together. Each Sunday night in March is available – please contact Aimee Norman or Lynn Muller at lynngmuller@yahoo.com with questions or to serve.

Emergency Winter Shelter - Now until April
Have two free hours? Spend them at the Emergency Winter Shelter for homeless men. Christ Church will be assisting at the shelter 3 nights monthly the 1st Sunday, 2nd Friday and 4th Thursday, October – April. We are looking for extra volunteers for Friday, March 12th. This is a great chance to gain service hours for confirmation. Volunteer ministers serve on a team of 5-8 parishioners who pick up food at the Charlotte Rescue Mission, purchase breakfast bars for the men, and serve by ladling food, passing out blankets and assisting with check-in at the Shelter from 5:30 - 7:30 PM. Contact Eric Clark at eclark@rinehartassociates.com to reserve a spot.

Costa Rica - March 25th (signup deadline) (back to top)

We still have spaces open for the adult and youth (rising 10th graders) trip to Costa Rica this summer. We will be traveling to our companion diocese in Costa Rica. The trips are scheduled for July 10th -18th and July 17th-25th. The type of work will be determined closer to the trip, but will involve manual labor. We will need a $100 registration fee at the time of sign up, the deadline is March 25th. For questions contact Christine DeLia at deliac@christchurchcharlotte.org or Aimee Norman at normana@christchurchcharlotte.org.

Friendship Trays (back to top)

Do you have one hour a month you can spare to help ensure people in Charlotte don't go hungry? Friendship Trays prepares and delivers approximately 800 meals a day to shut-ins and others in need. Christ Church volunteers drive a route every business day of the month. We are in need of more volunteers who can drive the route on a Thursday or Friday. If you can help, please contact Jennie Robertson at jrobertson@carolina.rr.com or at 704-366-1157.

Charlotte's Homeless Community Book Club (back to top)

Do you enjoy reading and would you like a unique way to make an impact with Charlotte's homeless community? We are seeking both male and female volunteers. One of our members, Candace Curlin, in conjunction with Charlotte's library system has started a book club with the goal of improving literacy while bringing together Charlotte's Homeless & Housed Neighbors for fun discussions! The meetings are always enlightening, allow the members an opportunity to have their voices heard and are consistently rewarding. The meetings are held at the Main Library Uptown, Dalton Room, every Tuesday from 9:00 - 10:00 AM. Contact Candace at turningpagesbookclub@hotmail.com or at 704-442-1442 if interested.
