By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.      John 13:35

Youth Serving at Christ Church

We hope to allow our youth to develop a serving heart that understands and desires our call to be Christ's hands in our world today both locally and globally. We hope to accomplish these goals by educating our youth about the needs of the world and by developing relationships with communities in need.

Middle School Summer Options 2012
Below is information about some fantastic youth programs that are offered this summer. We highly recommend any and all of these programs as ways to continue to grow in your faith and have some fun during the summer. To register for EOC or Glory Ridge, please fill out the attached sheet(s). The deadline for signups will be March 15th. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.

Junior Young People (JYP). June 17-22. Kanuga Conference Center. Hendersonville, NC.
For one whole week in the summer, Kanuga is entirely taken over by YOUTH! Youth Week at Kanuga consists of three separate conferences that run side by side. Junior Young People for middle school, Senior Young People for high school, and AWWWY- Adults Who Work With Youth for... the title pretty much says it. JYP is an excellent conference for middle schoolers. “JYPers” stay in the Inn (hotel-style rooms) at Kanuga and meet together in large and small groups each day. There are various activities and free time, a healing service, Eucharist, and a dance! More than that there is the expression of God’s unconditional love by a superb staff of young adults and a wonderful energy from the JYPers, too. The theme this year is “Thoughts, Words, and Deeds.” Registration is done through Kanuga’s website http://www.kanuga.org/conference-calendar/conference-calendar-details/jyp-thoughts-words-and-deeds.

Episcopal Outreach Camp. July 22-25. Charlotte.
Episcopal Outreach Camp (EOC) is a service-oriented overnight camp sponsored by the Episcopal churches of Charlotte. Youth from local Episcopal churches work with local ministries to learn about needs in our own back yard and participate in local service. EOC is three days and three nights of time spent getting to know other Episcopal youth, practicing a Gospel-based faith of giving our time & talent in service to others, fun-filled activities, swimming opportunities and fun evening activities.  Ministries visited in the past have been: Raptor Center, St Mark’s Slave cemetery, Davidson Housing Coalition, Rama Road Elementary, and Urban Ministry.

Glory Ridge. July 29- August 4. Madison County, NC.
Christ Church offers a short-term mission experience for middle schoolers with a week at Glory Ridge. Glory Ridge is a mission camp in Madison County, NC where groups come up for a week to serve the local community by doing repairs on homes and being present with the people they are serving all in the name of Jesus. Last year was Christ Church’s first year at Glory Ridge and it was a terrific experience. This mission week is just for middle school, so it is a great chance to bond and serve together. Plus, on Friday night, we go to The Depot in Marshall for some good old mountain bluegrass! Glory Ridge is great opportunity for the Mr. or Mrs. Fix-It of you house to come as a chaperone and help guide the youth on the job sites alongside the Glory Ridge summer staff. We are looking for five adult volunteers.
