Costa Rica

Christ Church sends missioners each year (some years had multiple trips) to serve as we were needed by the Diocese. Our parish hosts regular mission trips to Costa Rica typically in July, the companion diocese of the Diocese of North Carolina. Adults and youth have served by helping renovate Hogar Escuela, a day care center in central San Jose and by working at the Episcopal Diocesan House in San Jose. Christ Church looks forward to continuing to build upon the relationship we already have and continue to make a difference in this part of the world.

"For me the Costa Rica trip was a reality check. It really meant a lot to me to get away from Charlotte and realize that I should be so thankful for everything my family and the church has given me. The people there had such a strong passion for Christ with very limited resources; It makes me smile to think about it. I saw God in every one of the people there who thought we were there to serve them, but actually they served us."
- Ashton Radcliffe, Youth, Costa Rica 2008

"It was so good to step out of our comfort zones with some strangers and fellow Christ Church members and see God at work."
- Henrietta Palmer, Participant 2008
"I would say the trip has changed me for life. I loved sanding the ceiling, digging the trench, but most of all I enjoyed being 'present' with my new friends and my son."
- Sherry Brower, 2008

"What I enjoyed most about the trip was really getting in touch with God and feeling like I actually was a Christian, instead of just saying I was."
- Rachel Rayburn, Youth 2008

"If I knew mission trips were this much fun, I would have done this years ago!"
- Jamie Gilbert
