Youth > Youth Ministry

2006 Episcopal Outreach Camp

           Jesus said to the people...

“Let the little children come to me,
            and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of God belongs
to such as these.”   Mark 10:14

We know that the youth of Christ Church are not “little children” anymore, but we still believe that the “kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”  Christ Church has a vibrant, holistic approach to youth ministry that keeps getting better everyday.  All of our youth ministry focuses on one or more of these core values:

Worship:  W Taize Service e believe that our God is a good God and worthy of our praise.  We also believe that as we worship God we are formed in new and powerful ways by the community that surrounds us and by the Holy Spirit who is in the midst of us.  We receive the gifts of God in all aspects of our lives but maybe never more tangibly than we do through the sacramental gifts that are available to us through worship. To learn more about worship at Christ Church, click here.

Study:  With worship as our foundation for our relationship with God we need to open our minds to further understand our experiences with God and our common history as God’s people.  Our primary form of study at Christ Church is our Sunday School program.  The curriculum that is currently offered to 7th through 12th graders is called “Journey to 2006 Episcopal Outreach CampAdulthood.”

Service:  We read in the Gospel of Mark that “the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve,” (Mark 10:45).  It is very important for all of us to include service in our efforts to follow Christ. The youth of Christ Church have opportunities to serve in the various ministries of Christ Church throughout the year and there are also multiple mission trips available for the youth each summer!  To learn more about service at Christ Church, click here.

EYC Kick-off Cook-outFellowship:  Another foundational block in the youth ministry of Christ Church is Christian Fellowship. It is of the utmost importance at this stage in the lives of our youth and young adults that they are provided safe places to live into the Christians they are becoming. Christian fellowship is paramount in providing opportunities for us to practice being the people that we want to be all the time.  We provide fellowship opportunities through our Sunday School classes and general parish activities and particularly focus on this goal through EYC.
