All women who are members of Christ Church are automatically members of the Episcopal Church Women. The ECW offers one way for women to share their gifts and talents in ministry. Through avenues of worship, study, outreach, service, pastoral care and fellowship, the ECW supports the mission of the Church in all its facets.
One of our 2011 goals for ECW is to create opportunities for women to experience fellowship and form friendships across the generations. The events planned for 2011 will encourage our community of women to share wisdom and life experiences, rejuvenate and learn from each other. All women of Christ Church are welcomed and encouraged to attend our monthly gatherings held on Tuesday mornings and Tuesday evenings, alternating months. Join your friends and make new ones with a cup of good coffee at our “Perk Up-ECW Coffee Stop” or enjoy a glass of wine at our “Wind Down” – ECW Sip & Share”. Below are dates of interest for 2011. ECW Annual Christmas Bazaar

The bazaar will be on December 3rd from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. There will be fantastic handcrafted gifts, homemade casseroles, soups, appetizers, Christmas decorations, greenery and lots more!
The ECW of Christ Church raises money through GOODNEWS the shop@ChristChurch and the annual Christmas Bazaar which allows us to give to agencies in the community that support women and children. GOODNEWS is a book and gift store located in the church that is open to the public. Without any street signage, it has become a popular destination for those seeking quality religious and unique gift items. Please visit us sometime!
Profits from GOODNEWS and the Christmas Bazaar are tallied by the ECW Board and Mission Funding Committee to determine the fund distribution for various non-profit organizations. Letters and request forms are sent to agencies in October and are due by the end of November. Requests are presented to the committee in January and funds distributed in February. Art Gallery Coordinator
Keeps the "art gallery hallway" full of beautiful art by communicating with various area artists. Part of the proceeds of these sales benefit the outreach mission of the Good News Shop.
Bazaar
Participate in all the excitement of preparing for our Christmas bazaar and annual fundraiser. Join workshops to create beautiful greenery and other crafts, prepare food from pre-selected recipes, assist is bazaar planning and administration, or volunteer to help with sales the day of the bazaar.
Bulletin Board Chair
Maintain the monthly bulletin board for ECW. Advertise special events, post photos and keep the board generally appealing and inviting throughout the year.
Fellowship Co-Chair
Organize monthly social events such as “Perk Ups” and “Wind-Downs”. Work with a small committee to gather ideas for additional fellowship opportunities for the women of Christ Church. Plans the annual Staff Appreciation Luncheon in the fall.
Friendship Feast
Help with planning and organizing this luncheon held on April 12th, 2011 at 6:30 PM. This luncheon features a speaker and celebrates friendships.
Good News Shop Staff
An opportunity to volunteer in the Good News Shop. Fun atmosphere and flexible schedule. Profits from the Good News Shop fund missions and community projects of the ECW. There will be one early fall training session for each new member. Flexible commitment - weekly, monthly or bi-monthly shifts.
Guild Coordinator
Coordinates the e-mailing of the listings of the various guilds offered by the ECW and places the women in the guild(s) of their choice. Guilds usually run September to May.
Mission Funding Receives grant requests from various charitable organizations, organizes leaders of non-profits to speak monthly at ECW Executive meetings. Sends letters in the fall to organizations that ECW has previously donated. Compiles requests and information late December for early January’s Mission Funding meeting. Presents requests at the Mission Funding Meeting to ECW Board for the allocation of funds available from the Good News Shop.
Retreat ECW Retreat will forge new territory in 2011 by making a change in location and season. The women’s retreat will be held at the beach in Debordieu Colony near Georgetown, SC on Friday, April 29 – Sunday, May 1st. Look for more details to come! Most planning and organization of this event happens from January – May. All are welcome to lend a helping hand!
UTO (United Thank Offering) Help with one in-gatherings (spring and fall) by composing letter to the parish and overseeing the amount of money given and sent out to help Episcopal missions everywhere.
