As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.

Men of Christ Church

A number of avenues exist for men to build friendships and to engage in faith formation for their personal and professional lives. A monthly standard opportunity is the First Friday for Men held the first Friday of each month. It is held in the Blue Room of Christ Church from 7:00 - 8:00 AM. This occasion consists of a breakfast catered by Anderson's, casual conversations and a thirty minute presentation centered on some aspect of faith and Scripture pertaining to demands and responsibilities of men at home and work. An annual event is the Men's Weekend. It occurs the first weekend of February at Valle Crucis Conference Center (near Boone in the NC mountains). This is a full weekend with some content from a weekend leader, some rest and leisure and a break from the routine. Themes previous years have included establishing balance in life, the father-son relationship, priorities at home and the workplace. Scripture is a focus as is everyday life.

In addition, there are many small groups of men who gather at Christ Church and other locations early on weekday mornings. These groups have addressed Scripture, have worked with books about relationships with God and Christ and about trying to be faithful in this world. They continue to be settings for support and accountability. Christ Church has benefited tremendously from the excellent work of Search Ministries in Charlotte. Search Ministries has spawned dozens of small groups of men in uptown Charlotte and elsewhere. Their courses and studies have inspired many men here to be intent about their priorities and the centrality of their faith. It's a low-key, very well grounded approach that has birthed many small groups of Christ Church. Contact Verdery Kerr at kerrv@christchurchcharlotte.org or 704-714-6964.

All men of Christ Church are encouraged to avail themselves of a variety of offerings for faith development and spiritual formation and for fellowship. There are weekly, bi-weekly and monthly fellowship and Bible study groups. These are designed to build a deeper connection to God and to this community.
