Our Vision - A Spiritual Home

In the Fall of 2006, Christ Church began to develop a renewed vision for our parish. It was an appropriate time to do so. The highly successful five-year One In The Spirit effort had come to fruition and the ministry of our new Rector had begun.

This vision was intended to be a shared one, created by the congregation as a whole and both faithful to the Gospel and relevant to the life and needs of the Christ Church community. The Vestry and Clergy hoped that, led by the Holy Spirit, the parish's new vision would be an expansive one. Each of the listening and planning sessions began with a prayer, the full text of which is set forth on the inside back cover of the Report, that includes these lines: "Inspire us, Lord, to dare more boldly, . . ."

Indeed, a bold and compelling vision had emerged, a call for Christ Church to become the true Spiritual Home for its people.

What is a "Spiritual Home?"
It is the place to which God's people are drawn for worship, fellowship, learning, caring, service and commitment. In each of these areas of ministry, the congregation is asking the parish to be more, and to do more, with and for its people in the service of Christ and His kingdom. We want Christ Church to be the place where our families come for spiritual sustenance and communion that is rich and transforming. We desire a loving and vibrant community, one that celebrates with us in times of joy, supports and comforts us in hardship and challenges and equips us to minister to a broken world in the name of Christ. In short, we want this church to be a central and sustaining force in our lives.
