ADULT SUNDAY CLASSES
The Adult Spiritual Formation Commission has created an adult Sunday program that will strengthen and challenge the faith of our diverse membership. Classes are held Sunday morning from 10:00 - 10:50 a.m., in conjunction with the children’s program. All classes are open to everyone.
Christian Perspectives on Current Events - All Saints’ Hall: Local speakers present topics relevant to our Christian journey that challenges us to think in new ways and inspires us to live out our faith. This fall we look forward to having Mayor Pat McCrory, Peter Gorman, Superintendent of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Aaliyah El-Amin from Teach for America, and Dr. Jonathan Berkey, Professor of Middle Eastern History at Davidson College.
Connect to Christ Church Classes - Yellow Room: Whether you have recently joined Christ Church or have been here for a while and want to learn more, this series of classes is a formative step. The clergy and lay leaders will focus on membership, spiritual growth and servanthood. Look for these classes on September 23, 30, and October 7. If you miss us on a Sunday morning, come to the Wednesday evening sessions!
201 Programs and People - Mike Rogers/Aimee Norman
202 Spiritual Growth - Rev. Verdery Kerr
203 Stewardship - Rev. Chip Edens
Life Matters - Blue Room: Educational and fellowship opportunities for healthy and holy living. "Caring for Aging Parents" will be a two part series, followed by "Eating for a Healthier Tomorrow." We are fortunate to have Charles Odell from the Dilworth Center for Chemical Dependency, who will present two separate classes: "Teenage Drinking and Prescription Drug Use" and "Adult Children of Alcoholics." Connell Pickney and Beth Bowen facilitate the discussion.
Family Focus - Room M207/ M208: Seven week study that provides Christian parents the basic information, motivation and tools to help shape the spiritual character of their children. This class is based on Shaping the Next Generation by David and Elaine Atchison. This is an opportunity to apply biblical principles to parenting and instill Godly character in our children’s lives.
The Book of John - The Parlor: Join us as we seek to continue to grow in our knowledge of and relationship to Jesus Christ through a Bible study of the book of John. We are using John-The Way to True Life as our guide. John and Lynn Muller, Gorrell and Katharine Cheek and Eric Sheridan are the class facilitators.
Discerning God’s Will - Room M206: Study scripture to learn ways to listen for and follow God’s will in our lives. David Straut, Bob Cramer and Lynn Purdum are class facilitators and Experiencing God is used as a guide.
Rector’s Class - All Saints’ Hall: Chip Edens will teach once a month as all adults meet together for one Sunday School class.
