Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.    Matthew 10:40

Welcome to Christ Episcopal Church

We invite you to become a part of our faith community and of the living body of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Christ Church seeks to take after our namesake. We're far from perfect, but our heart's desire is that Christ will be at the center of our life as a faith community in the Episcopal tradition. Above all, we aspire to help each other grow into the fullness of God's wishes for us. We aim to treat each other with the love of Christ, to approach God with the faith of Christ, and to serve the world in the Spirit of Christ - in order to take after Him in our life together with Him.

We are delighted that you are interested in Christ Church. We invite you to worship with us, study and learn with us through Sunday School classes or a Bible Study, enjoy fellowship with us at Wednesday Night Suppers or other various fellowship opportunities, and serve with us in our church, community and world. We have two parking spots reserved at all times for Visitors in our main parking lot. They are for you! Please make yourselves known to us on Sunday morning when you visit. Our Welcome Table is in the lobby (called the "Rotunda" area) of our education office building. It is our privilege to help you find Sunday School classes, the Nursery Suites or answer any questions that you might have. Christ Church is a vibrant, diverse and spiritual community that is dedicated to serving God. We are here to make you feel welcome and help acclimate you to Christ Episcopal Church. The Newcomers Committee sponsors a number of events throughout the year. Please come join us, so that we may learn more about you; and you can learn more about us.

Many words could describe who we are
We are a large church
- with over 5,000 adults and children.
We are an active church - with programs, groups, activities and events for people of all ages and interests.
We are a sacramental church - with the celebration of Eucharist basic to most of our worship services.
We are a diverse church - with people of varied spiritual inclinations - conservative and liberal, traditional and charismatic, evangelical and social justice.

Anyone who worships on a regular basis at Christ Church is considered to be part of this congregation whether or not they officially become a member. All people are invited and encouraged to officially become members of Christ Church through transferring of membership from another church, baptism, or confirmation at Christ Church. Membership is not required to participate in activities or be considered a part of this parish family.

Transfer of Membership:
If you have been a member of an Episcopal church or any other denomination, your membership can be transferred to Christ Church by contacting Christy Letanosky at letanoskyc@christchurchcharlotte.org or 704-714-6972.

Baptism:
The basic requirement for "membership" in any Episcopal Church is baptism. The Episcopal Church recognizes baptism which occurs in all other Christian denominations. Written notification of baptism from a different Christian church is sufficient. People desiring to be baptized at Christ Church may contact one of the clergy members or call the church office at 704-333-0378.

Confirmation:
"Confirmed" indicates that a person has undergone laying on of hands by an Episcopal Bishop in a congregational worship service. When someone has been confirmed in another Episcopal congregation, a letter of membership can be transferred from the previous congregation. When someone has been confirmed by a Bishop in the Catholic, Lutheran or Eastern Orthodox Church, that person can be received by an Episcopal Bishop in a service. This annual service with one of our Bishops is scheduled for June 2013.

Adult Confirmation and Inquirers Course begins in late winter. Sessions are held primarily on Sunday mornings in the Chapel from 10:00 - 10:50 AM. Course includes several Wednesday evenings at Christ Church with dinner. These classes are for any adult who wishes to be confirmed in the Episcopal Church, for any confirmed Episcopalian who wishes to learn the basics of faith, and for anyone who simply wants to explore what we believe. The classes explore the basics of Christianity (God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, history of the Church, etc.) as well as the way the Episcopal Church lives out that basic faith through worship according to The Book of Common Prayer, Bible Study, and service to others. Registration is required. Please email Jenny Beaumont at beaumontj@christchurchcharlotte.org or call 704-714-6945. For more information, contact the Rev. Martha Hedgpeth, 704-714-6955 or Jenny Beaumont at 704-333-0378.

Our 8th grade students typically are enrolled in confirmation classes as a group each fall.

The contacts are Jenny Beaumont (adults) at beaumontj@christchurchcharlotte.org or 704-714-6945 and John Porter-Acee (teens) at porter-aceej@christchurchcharlotte.org or 704-714-6946.
