Lead and Assistant Teacher Job Descriptions
2 years old through 6th Grade
 What we need for you to give…
A few hours each month to teach or assist the teachers September through May
A few hours each year to attend teacher training and workshops
What you will receive…
Support from the director of Church school, Clergy and other experienced teachers
An increased knowledge of the Bible
An opportunity to build relationships with children and other adults in the church
Curriculum materials that make teaching fun and lead you in your spiritual growth
An opportunity to teach in your child’s class or a different class
A well- stocked Resource Room
A wonderful opportunity to live into your baptismal covenant to “teach and learn” as you offer the children the message of God in their lives
Each Teaching Team is comprised of six (6) volunteers. Below is a brief description of their responsibilities.
Lead Sunday School Teacher (4 per Sunday School class)
Greets children by name and organizes the warm up activity
Helps to establish a caring environment
Teaches the lesson provided in the curriculum (approximately once per month)
Attend their Sunday school class each week they are in town
Helps to maintain the “two adults at all times” policy
Participates in teacher training
Assistant Sunday School Teacher (2 per Sunday School Class)
Greets children by name
Helps to establish a caring environment
Assists Lead Teacher (approximately twice a month) with classroom activities
Participates in teacher training activities
