Music on Sundays at Christ Church
In keeping with our rich Anglican choral tradition, we offer the 8:45 AM Eucharist in the Church with music offered by the Christ Church Choir. Exquisite choral music from Gregorian Chant to twenty-first century choral music is offered. This is one of our most popular services.
At 8:45 AM in All Saints’ Hall, our Contemporary Band offers music from a broad array of traditions. All worship is taken from the Book of Common Prayer, which gives our worship a familiar feel. The atmosphere of this service is business-casual; coffee is available. This service allows families to let the Word of God and music to wash over you without reservation. Our 11:15 AM service in the Church alternates as a traditional Holy Eucharist on the first, third, and fifth Sundays, and the ancient liturgy of Morning Prayer on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. Often our youth and children will sing for these services, but one will also experience the Christ Church Choir singing descants on hymns and some of the famous choral music which is ever ancient and ever new.
For our families with young children, our popular 11:15 AM Discovery Eucharist in All Saints’ Hall is just right, with a small ensemble of adult musicians and children with short, easy-to-remember songs that children love - this service has been hailed as the perfect introduction to worship for young people of all ages. A service with the freedom that only children understand!
Late in the afternoon we offer an intimate, yet casual 5:00 PM Holy Eucharist in the Church. This service uses blended music from supplemental sources like the Taizé Community, as well as familiar hymns from the Episcopal hymnal. The piano and cantor and occasional organ music help lead this relaxed liturgy around a simple wooden altar designed especially for our space.
