The Tolmie Family
In 1999, Christ Church members Don and Joann Tolmie visited Tanzania and recognized that little was being done for children with physical disabilities. Working with the Lutheran Church in Tanzania, they built and funded the Faraja School for Children with Physical Disabilities. The school opened in 2001 with 15 students and grew to be a fully accredited, residential primary school of 88 students. Today, the Faraja Fund Foundation, chaired by the Tolmies' son Dave, oversees the funding and management of the school.
