Special Events

Throughout the year we offer special programs, classes, groups, and events just for children and their families.

While we have Covid-19 restrictions in place...

We have not left you without resources or connection to your faith community! Enjoy Sunday School with your children, virtually any time by going to Sunday School.

Or your kindergarten through 5th graders can connect with their Sunday School classmates via Zoom calls on Sunday, April 26 and May 3.  See your parent home email message for Zoom meeting link information, or contact Sarah Ford or Lindsay Masi for more details.

Parents are also invited to join other parish parents on Wednesday evening, April 29 at 8:00 PM for social connection.  Reconnect, take a break with other adults, and find space with others. Look for the monthly Children's Ministry email for Zoom link details and come together virtually!

kanuga Family Weekend

Event Dates moved from March 27 - 29 to October 16 - 18
We will enjoy a fun weekend of learning and fellowship with other Christ Church families at the beautiful Kanuga Conference Center. Plan now to join us for a weekend you won't want to miss it!   Learn more about date change here »

Vacation Bible School

This annual summer event includes four days of learning and fun for four-year-olds through rising fifth graders. It is always a highlight of the year for participants and leaders alike! Children younger than four may attend when a parent is volunteering on site, so join us even if you have young children! Due to the Covid-19 restrictions in place, our June dates have been postponed.  Click here to see more VBS details!

Fourth Grade Bible Presentation

Each year, children in our fourth grade Sunday School classes work on learning the books of the Bible. If you are interested in your child participating by receiving a Bible, please email Emily Kalmbach.

EPEC is a support group for parents of children with special needs, disabilities, learning differences, or developmental delays. The purpose of EPEC is to create a safe space for parents to discuss their experiences, share ideas, and provide spiritual, mental, and emotional support to each other. Learn more »

Family Fellowship Events

Our children's ministry commission hosts a family fellowship event at least once a semester to allow families to come together in their spiritual home to build relationships and community. Our last event, Family Bingo Night, was a huge hit! Watch for other opportunities to get together with Christ Church families.

Blessing of the Backpacks

We celebrate and bless the beginning of another school year during this special liturgy, usually held on the fourth Sunday of August. Start the school year off right with this Christ Church tradition. Children, youth and adults are invited to bring school bags, lunch boxes, preschool totes, or briefcases to either of the 10:30 AM worship services, where clergy will bestow special prayers and blessings on the bags and those who carry them. This is a wonderful way for students of all ages to center their hearts and minds as we embark on a new academic year.

Feb Fest

Friday, February 21, 6:30 - 8:30 PM, Triple C Brewing (2900 Griffith St.)
This adults only event was a great opportunity to get to know others from Christ Church at an informal night of fellowship, sponsored by the Nursery Committee and Young Adults Ministry. Attendees gathered at Triple C Brewing for a fun evening to support the Family Impact Fund. The brewery donated $1 for each beverage purchased, plus all additional donations collected that night went to the Family Impact Fund. Look for additional events coming in the future.

Advent Festival

This inter-generational celebration to prepare us for the season of Advent is a cherished tradition. Each year, families are invited to make Advent wreaths and Jesse Tree ornaments, or assist with an on-site service project together. It is a great way to start the Advent season and spend time together. Volunteers are always welcome and needed!

Communion education

This class is a wonderful opportunity for parents and children in Kindergarten through 3rd grade to learn more about the traditions surrounding the Eucharist, led by clergy and the Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministry. Lunch will be provided to class participants. Childcare for younger siblings is available by reservation on the registration. This class is designed for parents to attend with their children.

Christmas Pageant

The Parish enjoys this annual reenactment of the miracle of the birth of Jesus by the children of Christ Church, with our third graders serving as the main cast. Learn more »

A Night in Bethlehem

This very special and meaningful interactive experience is for all ages, a drop-in experience of what it might have been like in Bethlehem on the night of Jesus' birth, with live animals and other activities.

These are our Bodies

This weekend workshop is a unique opportunity to place the gift of sexuality within the context of our Christian Faith. The program is designed especially for our fifth grade "tweens" (not yet teenagers, they are in be"tween") and their parents, led by parishioners who are committed to making a connection with the tweens and helping them see that our community is interested in them during these important years of growth and change.

Registration is required ($100) and normally opens in early fall, with a very limited space in each session. We cannot guarantee there will be space in your first choice session and we must cap participation for a quality program for each family.  If you register, please know that we expect you for the entire session on Friday and Saturday.  There are no late arrivals or early departures because of the schedule of the program.  We appreciate you making the workshop a full priority.

If you have questions about the program before registering, please contact Lindsay Masi. This program is open to non-church members only if space allows after registration closes for our parishioners.
