Throughout the year we offer special programs, classes, groups, and events just for children and their families.
While Covid-19 restrictions ARE in place ...
Although we are not meeting in person, join us two Sundays a month beginning in September to worship with us in a modified, online Discovery Service. Your children will also be able to enjoy virtual Sunday School. Watch your email and our monthly newsletter for more information about digital Sunday School for children. Check here for access: Sunday School.
If you do not receive our monthly Children's Ministry newsletter email, please contact Emily Kalmbach so that she can make sure your correct email address is on file and she can check if you have accidentally unsubscribed from church communications. We want to keep in touch!

Vacation Bible School 2021
Registration is open at a wait-list only capacity for all grade-levels. Unfortunately, we are unable to utilize teens this year as volunteers, but we look forward to them being back with us in the future.
We are hopeful that we will be able to meet in person this summer for Vacation Bible School, although on a smaller scale than in years past. We are making plans now for an exciting adventure for Friday, July 30 (5:30 - 7:30 pm), Saturday, July 31 (9:30 am - 12 noon) and Sunday, August 1 (10:30 am - 12 noon). Registration will be required and available starting Friday, May 7 for rising kindergarten through rising 3rd grade children. For our Navigators (rising 4th & 5th grades), will will have a separate service day just for you on Friday, August 6.
We hope to include a special worship service on our closing morning followed with a picnic lunch. Full details are still being determined and all plans are dependent on Diocese guidelines and pandemic numbers staying low so that we can be safe together. Connect with our VBS webpage here for more information and to register(wait-list only at this time).
Blessing of the Backpacks, supplies and technology
Sunday, August 22 at all worship services
Our annual blessing tradition acknowledges that many tools support learning. Children, youth and adults are invited to bring their school gear and technology tools to worship for special prayers and blessings on the tools and those who carry/use them. This is a wonderful way for students of all ages to center their hearts and minds as we embark on a new academic year.
Past Events for Families
Monday, December 21, 5:30 - 7:30 pm, Christ Church
Bring your family and drive through the church parking lot and front circle to enjoy the sights and sounds of Advent from the safe distance of your car. At this special event, our clergy, staff, and parishioners will be dressed as the many characters you know from the night Christ was born. Additionally, each participating car will receive a box with special items to help you worship at home on Christmas Eve. Registration is required.
We will also collect canned food for Loaves and Fishes to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Especially in high demand currently are canned meats and canned pasta dishes (like Chef Boyardee, SpaghettiOs, etc.), but all pantry donations are welcome.
Sunday, December 20, 10 am, Online
The parish enjoys this annual reenactment of the miracle of the birth of Jesus by the children of Christ Church, with our third graders serving as the main cast. Participation from third graders and their family members requires registration. Check out our Pageant web page for details as we re-imagine the Pageant for Advent 2020!
ADVENT FESTIVAL AT HOME
Advent begins Sunday, November 29, 2020. One of our cherished traditions is an inter-generational celebration to prepare us for the season of Advent. While we cannot gather in-person to make our advent wreaths and Jesse Tree ornaments or do a service project as a group, we can still prepare our hearts and homes for Advent by ordering Advent wreath supplies (candles and wreath forms) and craft supplies to make ornaments at home.
4th Grade Bible presentation
On Sunday, April 25 we presented Bibles to 20 of our fourth graders who have been participating in learning the books of the Bible at home. Although the pandemic has changed many things over the past year for us all, we are fortunate and thankful that we continue our Christ Church tradition of presenting Bibles to these children and celebrate their accomplishments as they continue in their faith journeys. We look forward to continuing this Christ Church tradition for our incoming fourth graders as well.

Events to Resume When Safe to Gather Fully, in Person
This class is a wonderful opportunity for parents and children in Kindergarten through 3rd grade to learn more about the traditions surrounding the Eucharist, led by clergy and the Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministry. Lunch will be provided to class participants. Childcare for younger siblings is available by reservation on the registration. This class is designed for parents to attend with their children.
These are our Bodies
This weekend workshop is a unique opportunity to place the gift of sexuality within the context of our Christian Faith for our fifth graders and their parents. However, due to the restrictions of the Corona Virus and our current inability to meet in person, we have postponed any offering of this program until we can meet in person. Please watch your emails from the church - direct and through our Children's Ministry newsletter email - for all updates on this program. We will make arrangements to include your family because of our modified programing formats during 2020-21.
Family Fellowship Events
Our Children's Ministry Commission hosts a family fellowship event at least once a semester to allow families to come together in their spiritual home to build relationships and community. Our last event, Family Bingo Night, was a huge hit! Watch for other opportunities to get together with Christ Church families once restrictions have been lifted.
This adults only event was a great opportunity to get to know others from Christ Church at an informal night of fellowship, sponsored by the Nursery Committee and Young Adults Ministry. This winter, we gathered at Triple C Brewing for a fun evening to support the Family Impact Fund. The brewery donated $1 for each beverage purchased, plus all additional donations collected that night went to the Family Impact Fund. Look for additional events coming in the future.
This very special and meaningful interactive experience is for all ages, a drop-in experience of what it might have been like in Bethlehem on the night of Jesus' birth, with live animals and other activities.
Event Cancelled for 2021
