Special Events

Throughout the year we offer special programs, classes, groups, and events just for children and their families.

While Covid-19 restrictions ARE in place ...

We are happy to be providing Sunday School for our 3-year-old through fifth grade children in person again, as long as the current pandemic environment allows. Children are dropped off and picked up from their assigned classrooms.  At this time, we have one class at each preschool age and at each school grade level.

If you do not receive our monthly Children's Ministry newsletter email, please contact Emily Kalmbach so she can make sure your correct email address is on file and to be sure that you have not unsubscribed from church communications. We want to keep in touch!

THESE ARE OUR BODIES

This weekend workshop is a unique opportunity for fifth graders and their parents to place the gift of sexuality within the context of our Christian faith. Due to Covid positivity rates we are currently experiencing, we have postponed this January 2022 program. Please watch your email for updates about our future date if you have a child registered! Please contact Sarah Ford if you have any questions.

Current 5th graders will have a workshop opportunity January 21 - 22, 2022 (POSTPONED). We will also offer our current 6th grade tweens and their parents an opportunity to participate because of the pandemic during the 2020 - 2021 program year. ADVENT FESTIVAL

Advent begins Sunday, November 28, 2021. One of our cherished traditions is an inter-generational celebration to prepare us for the Advent season. We are excited to gather in person this year to make Advent wreaths and Jesse Tree ornaments, all while preparing our hearts for Advent. Join us at 10 am this Sunday in All Saints' Hall to make your ornaments, and visit the Blue Room to buy your Advent wreath supplies (candles and wire forms).  We will have greenery on hand for you to make an Advent wreath to use at home during this special season.

If you like to help as an adult or teen volunteer with crafts or in the greenery room, please visit the SignUp Genius

ADVENT Lessons and Carols for families

Sunday, November 28 at 11:15 am, All Saints' Hall

Immediately following the 10 am Advent Festival this day, your family is invited to remain in All Saints’ Hall for an Advent Lessons and Carols. Advent Lessons and Carols is a service of scripture and song. In this service, we will listen to three scripture lessons that tell the promise of the Messiah. The lessons will stem from crafts made during the Advent Festival. Each of the three lessons will be followed by a carol that reflects on the lesson’s message. Join us for this beautiful offering that will set aside intentional time to prepare for the Advent season and for the Celebration of Christmas.

Spark Bible Order

Families are invited to order a Spark Bible for use in their home and during Discovery Worship with their younger children. The selected Bible stories are written with children in mind, and the accompanying pictures help tell the stories. Orders can be picked up from the church Rotunda lobby cart. Fee ($10 per Bible) helps offset expenses. (Please note - ordering has closed, but please contact Emily Kalmbach or Sarah Ford if interested in purchasing a remaining Bible.)

Blessing of the Backpacks, supplies and technology

Was held Sunday, August 22 in all worship services

Our annual blessing tradition acknowledges that many tools support learning. Children, youth and adults brought their school gear and technology tools to worship for special prayers and blessings on these tools and those who carry/use them. We pray that all of our children, youth and adults involved in learning have a blessed school year!

EPEC (EXCEPTIONAL PARENTS OF EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN)

Communion education

This class is a wonderful opportunity for parents and children in Kindergarten through 3rd grade to learn more about the traditions surrounding the Eucharist, led by clergy and the Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministry. Lunch will be provided to class participants. Childcare for younger siblings is available by reservation on the registration. This class is designed for parents to attend with their children.

Family Fellowship Events

Our Children's Ministry Commission hosts a family fellowship event at least once a semester to allow families to come together in their spiritual home to build relationships and community. A past event, Family Bingo Night, was a huge hit! Watch for other opportunities to get together with Christ Church families once restrictions have been lifted. We look forward to returning to these types of activities with you!
