Jubilee Store for Charlotte Family Housing

Friday and Saturday, December 8 - 9
Myers Park United Methodist Church

We will join with other area churches to support the Jubilee Store. This ministry offers families of Charlotte Family Housing an empowering, hopeful, and dignified way to purchase Christmas gifts. We need help with gift donations, inventory, setup, hospitality, shopping, meal service, and gift wrapping!

Learn more about volunteer jobs and sign up here.

To donate gifts for the store, please see the Amazon Wish List. Gifts should be dropped off to Christ Church by 12:00 Noon on Friday, December 1.

Room in the Inn

Every Sunday night, December through March, we offer hospitality in our Spiritual Home to our homeless neighbors who need a safe, warm place to sleep. Beds are made, tables are set, food is cooked, packaged, delivered, and served. We always need more overnight hosts, which is a great opportunity to serve with a friend! Learn more about this ministry and sign up to help at www.christchurchcharlotte.org/riti.

On Christmas Eve, we will provide small Christmas gifts to our guests. To purchase these gifts, we are collecting $20 gift cards to Walmart or Target. Please deliver donations to Laura Konitzer at the Church by Monday, December 18.

The Room in the Inn ministry also needs two new car seats for use when transporting families with small children. Contact Laura Konitzer at   or 704-713-6959 if you would like to make a donation.

Hawthorne place

As part of our ongoing ministry with Charlotte Family Housing, this holiday season, Christ Church will host five nights at Hawthorne Place (as we have done previously with Elizabeth House). December 31 - January 4, volunteers are needed to serve as overnight hosts and provide meals. Hawthorne Place is located at 300 Hawthorne Lane, inside St. John’s Baptist Church. MEN’S SHELTER OF CHARLOTTE

The Men’s Shelter is an emergency shelter for adult men with two locations (Tryon Street campus and Statesville Avenue campus). In addition to meeting the basic needs of shelter, clothing, showers, and meals, the Men’s Shelter also works alongside the men to identify sources of income and available housing so that the men may move from homelessness to housed. Of the 600,000 meals served in a year at the Men’s Shelter, Christ Church serves 12,000.

SERVE: Serve dinner on the first Sunday, second Friday, and fourth Thursday of each month, year-round from 5:15 to 7:15 PM, as well as on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Eve.  VIEW DETAILS AND SIGN UP »
