High School

Life Groups

During the school year, high school students meet in small groups at church members' homes. Youth and their adult leaders share meaningful conversations about how faith and life intersect.

If you are not currently engaged with our Life Group and would like to be, please come with a friend, or contact Alice deVries at to get connected.

Ninth Grade Urban and Wilderness Discovery Experiences

In 2019, we are excited to offer two unique “God in the World” discovery experiences for our ninth grade students. These experiences will give our teens the chance to grow in their faith and community with one another.

Urban Discovery Experience
On January 13, all ninth graders are invited to participate in our Urban Discovery Experience. On this day, students will journey together through uptown Charlotte, giving themselves opportunities to see God at work in the world around them newly. As an experience to the inner city of Charlotte, students will be invited to see the world as those who live in uptown do: often through the difficulties finding work, food, and shelter. Although our students will be well taken care of, our prayer is that this Urban Discovery Experience will give them fresh eyes to see the world around them and to empathize with their neighbors in Charlotte who are made in God’s image.

Wilderness Discovery Experience
On June 1, teens and their friends will have the opportunity to travel to the outdoors to look for and to experience God. Much like our trip to the inner city, this Wilderness Discovery Experience will give the opportunity to look for and to experience God in the outdoors. Traveling to the Whitewater Center, we will spend the day together learning and participating in activities that open us to God's movement in the wild. Again, while all students will be well taken care of, we trust that by venturing out of our normal comfort zones, God can reveal God’s self to us in new ways.

In order to make registration easy, and because we believe doing both will create the most impact, we have bundled the cost for these two trips together, allowing you to sign up either individually or for both at the same time. The total cost for these two experiences is $50. Please take a moment now, to check your calendars, and to register for one or both events. We promise you and your ninth grader will not be sorry!

May God open our eyes to God‘s presence in the world about us, whether we’re going uptown or we’re out in the wild. Please sign up today! Click here to register.

Youth Pilgrimage

We are excited to announce that our pilgrimage this year will be to the southwest of Ireland,  June 14 - 22.

Pilgrimage is always an opportunity to make an intentional journey to reflect on one’s relationship with God, self, and other. Traveling to and through the home of Celtic spirituality will give pilgrims an opportunity to reflect on how our faith has always included written forms of prayer and meditation as well an experience of God in creation. Walking in the historic footsteps of saints such as Saint Brendan, Saint Brigid and Saint Patrick, pilgrims will be invited to consider how God continues to inspire us to be those who can sense and respond to God‘s presence no matter where we go.

From the time of the very early Church until today, Christians have made pilgrimages to holy places as a part of their discipline and life of faith. Long before the notion of vacations, holidays, and mission trips, individuals within the Christian tradition set out to see the places where our Lord and his saints walked, slept, prayed, and preached the Good News.

This year’s pilgrimage, coordinated in partnership with Hidden Ireland Tours, will include the opportunity to walk the green hills and bogs of Ireland, visit ancient monasteries and Celtic sites, travel by boat to experience the beauty of the Skelligs, and explore together in community how God sends us out to love and change the world.

Please join us for this life-giving and faith-inspiring time.
