Episcopal Church Women (ECW)

We're Every Woman

That's right, all women at Christ Church are considered members of ECW (Episcopal Church Women), whatever their age or life stage.

ECW has long been a vital part of Christ Church, working to raise funds for local and national missions, participating in hands-on ministries like Habitat for Humanity and Room in the Inn, as well as hosting inspirational events and social gatherings.

Here are some of our upcoming events:

Room in the Inn

Mission Fundraising

ECW has donated over one million dollars to local and national nonprofits who focus on the needs of women and children in the local community and abroad. We do this with funds raised primarily from our Christmas Bazaar and GoodNews Shop.

GoodNews Shop
GoodNews was founded over forty years ago as a continuous fundraising stream for ECW, donating its proceeds to nonprofit initiatives. GoodNews is located on the upper level of All Saints' Hall (look for the green awning) with a tempting inventory of books, cards, pottery, jewelry, food and beautiful crafts. Learn more »

Christ Church Gallery
The hallway walls above All Saints’ Hall are adorned with the work of local artists, both aspiring and established. Sales benefit ECW mission funding. Learn more »

Heart Tutoring

Tutoring In Math As Easy as 1-2-3!

Heart Math Tutoring is a math intervention program that recruits, trains and supports volunteers to work as tutors in high-poverty elementary schools in Charlotte. Heart's mission is to ensure all elementary students develop a strong foundation in math and an enthusiasm for academics needed for long-term success by helping schools use volunteers as tutors.

Hundreds of community members, including many from Christ Church, are currently spending one hour per week delivering Heart's research-based structured curriculum in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Half of the job is to be a positive influence, the other half is helping a child learn basic math skills.

This year Heart Math is expanding and recruiting 700 volunteers to serve 600 students in 12 schools. Want to help? More information can be found at hearttutoring.org.
