Episcopal Church Women (ECW)

We’re Every Woman

The ECW (Episcopal Church Women) is the inclusive circle of ALL women at Christ Church, divinely connected: giving, receiving, and growing through faith, friendship, and fellowship.

ECW has long been a vital part of Christ Church, working to raise funds for local and national missions, participating in hands-on ministries like Habitat for Humanity and Room in the Inn, as well as hosting inspirational events and social gatherings.

Here are some of our annual events:

ECW Spring Retreat

We enjoy an annual get-away to Kanuga Conference Center, only a two-hour drive from Charlotte. The crisp mountain weather lends opportunities for fellowship and relaxation for women of all ages.

United Thank Offering (UTO)

The United Thank Offering (UTO) is a ministry of The Episcopal Church for the mission of the whole church to nurture the habit of giving daily thanks to God. These prayers of thanksgiving start when we recognize and name our many daily blessings. Look for the UTO envelopes and give generously on Mother's Day Sunday.

SAGES TEA

Women ages 65 and up are invited for tea and an opportunity to share history and stories of Christ Church past, and consider our hopes and dreams for the future.

Mission Fundraising

ECW has donated over one million dollars to local and national nonprofits who focus on the needs of women and children in the local community and abroad. We do this with funds raised primarily from our Christmas Bazaar and GoodNews Shop.

GoodNews Shop
GoodNews was founded over forty years ago as a continuous fundraising stream for ECW, donating its proceeds to nonprofit initiatives. GoodNews is located on the upper level of All Saints' Hall (look for the green awning) with a tempting inventory of books, cards, pottery, jewelry, food and beautiful crafts. Learn more »

Christ Church Gallery
The hallway walls above All Saints’ Hall are adorned with the work of local artists, both aspiring and established. Sales benefit ECW mission funding. Learn more »

ECW Mission Funding Spotlight

In this section we share the “Good News” about local and international organizations supported by Christ Church ECW through annual projects and the GoodNews Shop.

The Council for Children's Rights

ECW is pleased to support the Council For Children’s Rights this year.  The Council for Children’s Rights was formed in 2006 and is Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s leading advocate for children, providing both direct assistance to children in need today, and working for the well being of all children in the future. Its mission is to lead the community to stand up for every child’s right to be safe, healthy, and educated.

The Council for Children’s Rights provides legal representation, custody & individual advocacy for some of the most at-risk children in the Mecklenburg County.  Its advocacy work focuses primarily in the areas of education, abuse and neglect, mental health, custody, domestic violence and juvenile justice. It engages the community to work together for system reform and public policy that addresses the needs and future of all children.

The Council for Children’s Rights speaks for children when no one else will.   Its experienced, knowledgeable staff members know exactly who to call, what to do, and where to go when a child’s life is in crisis. It provides hope where others find roadblocks.
