Pura Vida in Costa Rica
Christ Church hosts summer and winter mission trips to Costa Rica, one of two Companion Diocese partnerships with the Diocese of North Carolina. For more than 20 years, Christ Church has been building its relationship with our brothers and sisters in Costa Rica.
Our projects have included upfitting the facilities at a school in San José; helping rebuild the Diocesan House in San José; helping build a new school in Heredia, a suburb of San José; and tearing down and rebuilding Church of the Ascension in San José.
Groups stay at the Diocesan House in San Jose and work wherever the needs are greatest for most of the week.
The last few days of the trip will also include a visit to the west coast to Manuel Antonio to experience a bit more of the country. There we will enjoy a number of activities, which may include touring the national park, canopy tours, surfing, horseback riding, shopping or simply hanging out by the pool or beach.
The cost of this trip is approximately $1,800 and includes airfare, accommodations, all transportation, and most meals. Scholarships are available to young adults which reduce the cost by nearly half. If you are interested in participating or have questions, please contact Laura Konitzer at
The friendships formed with the people in Costa Rica, the deepening relationships with other Christ Church members, the experience of another culture, and the encounter with Christ in new ways are a few of the reasons to consider this opportunity.
