The St. John's Bible is Here!
The St. John’s Bible is the first hand-illuminated, hand-written Bible commissioned in more than 500 years. With 1,120 pages and 160 illuminations, The Saint John’s Bible contains every book of the Old and New Testament (New Revised Standard Version). Each page is two feet high and three feet wide, representing a masterpiece of the Living Word of God, and provides a unique once-in-a-lifetime experience to encounter the sacred text of our faith.
Commissioned in 1998 by the Benedictine monks of Saint John’s Abbey and University in Collegeville, Minnesota, and completed in 2011, The Saint John’s Bible was created by Donald Jackson, Senior Scribe to Queen Elizabeth’s Crown Office, with assistance from historians, medievalists, artists, biblical scholars and theologians. The international team painstakingly created every aspect of the manuscript, with stunning and breathtaking results.
We are privileged to host Volume 6 (Gospels and Acts) of the St. John’s Bible at Christ Church through April 2, 2018. It will inspire and delight you with it’s beautiful calligraphy and illustrations. Don’t miss this opportunity to interact with the Word of God in a whole new way.
