    Bishop Anne Hodges-Copple

    Wednesday, November 29
    6:30 PM, All Saints' Hall

Putting on the “Armor of Light”1 in a Season of Darkness

As days shorten and nights lengthen, it may seem a different kind of darkness casts its shadows upon our hopes and dreams. Holiday plans anticipate celebrations with loved ones, but daily headlines elicit anxiety and even fear about the future well-being of the people and creation entrusted to our mutual care.

In the Christian calendar, the liturgical season of Advent gives us a welcome opportunity to examine the relationship between our confidence in the transcendent power of God’s reconciling love and the uncertainties and hostilities causing division and dissension among neighbors near and far.

On Wednesday, November 29our Bishop Suffragan, The Right Reverend Anne E. Hodges-Copple, invites you to join her for a presentation and conversation about what it might look like to be peacemakers, healers and agents of reconciliation in our own homes and local communities in ways that might change lives and even change the world.

Christ Church, Charlotte will host this event; all are welcome to attend. The evening will begin at 6:30 PM with a brief Evening Payer and then dinner. Afterward, Bishop Hodges-Copple will share a “state of the church” address summarizing our journey thus far, from Galilee to Jesus Movement to Becoming the Beloved Community. This will be followed by table discussions for reflection. The evening will conclude by 8:00 PM.

Additional details about this event and how to RSVP for dinner are coming soon.
