Our Church

Love God. Care for Each Other. Serve the World.

Christ Church is a spiritual home open to all.

Our mission is to engage, equip and empower people to love God, care for each other, and serve the world in the name of Christ.

Located in the Myers Park neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina, our church is a beautiful place, steeped in sacred tradition yet always looking, thinking, and moving forward with God’s grace.

In 1943, Christ Church (then known as Christ Church Mission) was formally recognized by the Diocese of North Carolina with 98 families in membership. Today we are a large, diverse Episcopal Church with over 6,000 members with wide-ranging spiritual inclinations. While we are large in number, our community is very close-knit and connected, and we are deeply committed to serving and advocating for justice in our city, nation, and world.

Who We Are

We are a Christ-centered Episcopal church rooted in scripture, tradition, and reason; respectful of and strengthened by our differences. We are committed to being a loving community of support and spiritual growth; being faithful stewards of God’s many blessings; and using God’s gifts to serve the needs of our community and world. We are inspired by the belief that with God’s help we will accomplish whatever God calls us to do. More Info

Our Leadership

The Vestry is the lay governing body of Christ Church, elected by the parish during our Annual Meeting. The Vestry helps define and articulate the mission of the congregation,  ensures effective organization and planning, and oversees finances. Our Vestry members devote a great deal of personal time to this important role. More Info

Our History

Christ Church is not just a place; it is a family of faith. Our history is shaped by the joys and heartaches we have shared as a community. On July 25, 1943, Christ Church Mission, Charlotte, was formally recognized by the Diocese of North Carolina. The impetus for its founding had come from the restrictions on travel imposed by the gas rationing of World War II, plus the realization that the Myers Park/Eastover area would soon be able to support a neighborhood church.
